Configuration and installation of StormVue-1.5 Java applet: 1. Create two background maps for use in the StormVue applet. The background map image must be 500x500 pixels and GIF or JPEG image format. One map each for the 300 km (188 mi) and 600 km (375 mi) view ranges (zooms) is required. If you have a CVM map, use the Map Snapshot feature in NexStorm for creating background maps (see p.13 in NexStorm User's Manual). 2. Assign your maps by altering the applet parameters MAP_SR (Short Range) and MAP_LR (Long Range) in the supplied StormVue.html so that these two parameters corresponds to the filename of your maps. 3. Put stormvue.jar, StormVue.html and both of your newly created maps in the same directory on the webserver. This directory needs to be accessible for FTP or Copy uploads by NexStorm. 4. Configure NexStorm to upload its exported data to the directory where you have put the applet JAR file. Refer to the NexStorm documentation on how to configure the upload of exported data. 5. To configure settings, open StormVue.html in Notepad or another text editor. Each configurable parameter is described with comments in this file. Be careful not to disrupt the commenting tags as that may prevent StormVue from loading correctly. Certain HTML editors (MS FrontPage, Macromedia Dreamweaver) have a tendency to corrupt the content located inside the tag, for this reason it is strongly recommended that you use a text editor when making changes.
